The Interoceanic Corridor Will Be Ready in 2 Years

Oaxaca and Veracruz will have one of the biggest infrastructure projects in Latin America, which is the  Interoceanic  Corridor that will go from Salina Cruz to Coatzacoalcos.

“The head of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, Carlos Urzúa Macías, said yesterday that Oaxaca would not be impacted by the possible cancellation of the Special Economic Zones, since the Interoceanic Corridor will be ready in two years.

After giving the inaugural declaration of the CCCXXII Meeting of the Permanent National Commission of Fiscal Officials, he affirmed that even the president (Andrés Manuel López Obrador) has not decided, but in particular in Oaxaca it is not so important.

He argued that Oaxaca and Veracruz will have one of the major infrastructure projects in Latin America, which is the Interoceanic  Corridor that will go from Salina Cruz to Coatzacoalcos.

“There will be a new train line, a highway and pipelines and that will be a serious competitor of the Panama Canal, because there are ships that could come from Texas, and send the oil to the Gulf by pipelines and send it to Asia, he explained.

Accompanied by the governor of the state, Alejandro Murat Hinojosa assured that the works will be completed in the current federal government, as long as there is a pledge from the president, and that the train is already in the works.

The federation is currently analyzing whether it will close some of the Special Economic Zones, given that they currently have a 7-year declaration, as well as letters of intent from companies seeking to invest in them.

On economic growth for the country, the head of the SHCP reaffirm that expectations are 2% and perhaps a little more, “which is insufficient, but whose percentage corresponds to the growth of the last 30 years.”

“Mexico came to be considered as an industrial country, but for a while it has not been possible to achieve, we have healthy finances and no major risks in the government and the Republic,” he  affirmed.

Moments before, the secretary of Hacienda y Credito Publico presided over the CCCXXII Permanent Meeting of Tax Officials, held in the Cultural and Convention Center of the City of Oaxaca.

“The fact that we are here today is a clear sign of the dynamism that the federal fiscal pact has, the issues are diverse, the federal entities and their municipalities have multiple complexities and in this heterogeneity all the issues must be addressed and understood,” he said. .

He emphasized that a subject of great relevance for the SHCP is the financial viability of the states.

He said that the SHCP, through the Coordination Unit with Federal Entities and the Tax Administration System, is working on coordination “so that public entities can regularize the debts that are owed and thereby improve the flow of government participation. “
